about targeted TMS

We are partnering with GPs and clinicians across the UK to raise awareness of the innovative, neuroscientific solution to treating depression and anxiety disorders, Targeted Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (tTMS).

Targeted TMS has proved to be a much more effective treatment than traditional TMS. Traditional TMS is applied to the left frontal regions of the brain in all patients. The difference is that with targeted TMS we identify the problematic regions of the brain and their specific dysfunction prior to treatment, enabling us to hyper-target the application.

tTMS is effective to a significant or substantial degree in 2 out of 3 patients, compared with 1 in 3 left frontal TMS treatments.

tTMS is fully accredited by NICE who report that the ‘the evidence on repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation for depression shows no major safety concerns.’

We believe patients should be given another option in treating depression and anxiety disorders, in addition to antidepressants and talking therapies.

Referral Form

We require a patient or their GP to complete a referral form before a patient attends an Initial Consultation with our clinician. The referral form can be submitted by email or mail to Prof. Ann Mortimer at Click here to download the referral form.

Request for Information

Once the referral form has been received we will send a request to the GP for all relevant mental health correspondence to be disclosed. If under a secondary mental health treating team or other mental health professional, out patient records, discharge summaries and clinical summaries are required. A patient assessment will subsequently be conducted by our clinical team, and if deemed appropriate, the patient can start a course of treatment.

Post-treatment Care

After the treatment is completed, a clinic letter, complete with a post-treatment care plan, will be sent to the relevant GP, mental health professional or both, and the patient will be discharged.
